Community award for Braeview pupil

Daniel receives his award from Joy Ingram.

Pupils at Braeview Academy this morning saw head boy Daniel Threapleton receive an award recognising his contribution to the community.
Daniel won the Young Person in the Community Award of Soroptimist International of Dundee and president Joy Ingram presented him with a silver quaich and certificate to mark his achievement at an assembly of the senior school today.

Daniel (17) teaches martial arts to children, works part-time in a veterinary surgery and is a small animals carer at Pets at Home.

Remarkably, Daniel, who hopes to study at university next year, suffers from dyspraxia, which results in impairment of body motor movement.

He was recommended for the award because of his desire to pass on his own experiences to younger children and motivate them to overcome their own difficulties.
