| The 75th anniversary of Broughty Ferry Library is being marked tonight.
Local author John Falla will assist in the celebrations by visiting the Broughty Ferry Reading Group to talk about his book “Blue Poppies”. The library was first opened by JC Buist, Lord Provost High, on October 24, 1928 and has been at the heart of the community since.
The event is being held in the library from 6.15 to 7.15pm.
It will be followed by the cutting of a special celebratory birthday cake by neighbourhood resources and development committee convener Kevin Keenan.
He said, “I wish Broughty Ferry library a very happy birthday and extend my thanks to all the staff for the great job they have been doing over the years, not forgetting our members, who make this all happen,” he said. “I wish them many more years of happy reading.”
There will also be an opportunity to view an exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of Scottish public libraries and borrowers are reminded that they can return overdue items throughout the month “without embarrassment or having to pay a fine”. |
