| Police have said there is no suggestion a Dundee High pupil took her own life because of bullying.
Fifteen-year-old Marianne Shanks apparently committed suicide last month, amid claims bullying may be blighting her life.
A police investigation was instigated following the discovery of the teenager’s body at her family home near Inchture.
However, the force today insisted there was no obvious link with bullying — although the Procurator Fiscal could still decide to take further action.
“Tayside Police can confirm that the inquiry into the sudden and tragic death of Marianne Shanks has been completed and a report submitted to the Procurator Fiscal at Perth,” said a spokesperson.
“While the Tayside Police investigation uncovered no apparent links to any form of bullying, the final decision as to whether any further action is taken will rest with the Procurator Fiscal and Crown Office.”
Staff and pupils at Dundee High struggled to come to terms with last month’s tragedy, a spokesperson descri-bing everyone involved with the school as “devastated”.
Marianne, who is survived by parents David and Dorothy-Anne and brothers Robert and Alexander, was described as a quiet girl who brought a lot of happiness to those around her. |
