| A sixteen-year-old Dundee girl has been chosen to swim for the British Sea Cadets in a national competition.
Lynnda Webster, who now lives in Monifieth, will face up against the best the Army, Air Force and Marines can offer in the Inter-Service Swimming Championships in Portsmouth next month.
The Monifieth High pupil was only selected after triumphing in a gruelling series of district and Scottish heats, where she competed in front crawl, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke events.
The competition will see Lynnda pit herself against the best of the other services over a 100-metres sprint swim.
The delighted youngster, who has been a member of Dundee Sea Cadets for around three years, said, “I’ve been training three nights a week for the event. I’m looking forward to competing.” |
