HARD WORK IN STORE
With just under two weeks to their next Scottish Premierleague game, Dundee United manager Ian McCall promises “hard work on the training field” (writes John Brown).
“Saturday’s result was a huge disappointment for us, especially after starting the game so well,” he said today.

“However, we cannot allow that result to fester.

“We’ve got just under a fortnight to our next game (v. Aberdeen at Pittdorie), so it will be hard work on the training field.

“We must have self-belief and show some real character. That’s what I’ll be trying to instil in my players.”

Player-coach Owen Coyle, who came on as a second-half substitute against Motherwell, also saw action against their U/21s last night.

The former Airdrie and Falkirk man netted twice and boosted his chances of a first-team start, although the manager was giving little away on that front.

“Owen missed a chance on Saturday, but he bounced back with a winning double last night in the 2-0 win.

“He’s in my thoughts for Pittodrie, but we’ll see.”

The injuries to Charlie Miller, Scott Paterson and Collin Samuel are causing concern at Tannadice, and all three will see a specialist this week.
