Brechin call centre survey
Angus Council is encouraging local people to get dialling and be first in the queue for possible call centre jobs in Brechin.
To help attract employers to the burgh, the council, in partnership with JobCentre Plus and the Talking Tayside Contact Centre Forum, is about to carry out a major survey to establish a register of potential employees.

The survey is among measures being undertaken as part of an inward investment support package targeting the call centre market.

To get as many names as possible, local people are being urged to contact JobCentre Plus, which will handle all inquiries and input responses into their central database.

This information will then be used for labour market analyses, training and subsequent recruitment purposes.

It is hoped this approach will ensure a response from potential recruits who are not already registered with JobCentre Plus, including returners to the labour market, potential part-time workers, those registered disabled and any others interested in such a career.

The project has received assistance from the European Structural Funds through the Rural Tayside Leader + Programme.

Vice-convener of infrastructure services Councillor Kitty Ritchie said, “Angus Council and partners are in discussion with a number of call centre operators, and a register of potential employees will help us promote Brechin as an ideal location for such a business.

“The council recognises the call centre sector holds great potential for local people looking to work in the service sector. I would urge anyone interested to get in touch with their local JobCentre Plus and get onto the register.”

Bill Wilson, district manager of JobCentre Plus added, “JobCentre Plus is delighted to be working with Angus Council to develop these potential opportunities across Brechin and its surrounding areas.”

Anyone interested in inclusion on the register should contact the JobCentre on (01307) 452807, or call into its office at Service Road, Forfar.
