| The specialist soldiers of The Black Watch returned to Perth today to continue their success in encouraging locals to join the regiment.
After their tour of duty in Iraq, the soldiers told their tale to potential recruits in Tayside and Fife towns last month and arrived back in the area again today.
The infantry regiment, which has for centuries recuited in area, has distinguished service in dozens of conflicts around the world, and received high levels of local support for their recent action.
Supported by the Scottish Division Recruiting Team, they came to Perth with an array of highly sophisticated equipment.
They will move on to Kirkcaldy High Street on Friday, Saturday and Monday, Dundee’s city centre from Tuesday for three days, then Tesco car park in Forfar on August 20 and Dunfermline’s Odeon Cinema on August 22,23 and 25, from 10 am to 4 pm each day.
The team have seen ”a marked increase in interest” in jobs with The Black Watch since the return from the Gulf.
Young people aged 16 to 26 may be eligible for opportunities ranging from combat soldiering, handling sophisticated weapon systems, hi-tech communications and missile operators to HGV driving, paramedic work or even piping and drumming.
