| Vintage and classic car enthusiasts from all over Britain are set to converge on Dundee this weekend for the first City of Discovery Festival of Motoring.
Lord Provost John Letford said the festival would be a great event that would hopefully attract thousands of car fans to City Quay.
He said, “This is another major event for the City of Discovery, which will be one of the biggest of its kind in Scotland.
“Dundee has played host to the Tall Ships race and the Titanic Expo in recent years, which have proved to be extremely successful.
“It was great to see the huge crowds attending these events and we hope the classic car show will attract many more visitors to Dundee as well as offering an excellent day out for the people of the city.”
Among the star attractions of the show will be a beautifully restored 250cc 1956 BMW Issette bubble car — of which there are only three in the country — a 1909 Model T Ford and a number of pristine examples of Rolls-Royces and Bentleys from the 1920s and ‘30s.
In addition, the children’s charity, Sporting Bears, will be at the event, offering members of the public a thrilling ride around the streets of Dundee aboard one of their five replica A C Cobras.
The festival will be open from 11 am-8 pm on Saturday and Sunday and from 10 am to 5 pm on Monday. Tickets will be £4 per adult and £2 per child. |
