Police find body near missing Newport woman’s home

A body was found in north-east Fife as police continue to search for missing Dundee University librarian Susan Reid.

The human remains were discovered a few miles from the 56-year-old’s Newport home, where she was last seen in January.

A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that human remains have been found in a rural location in north-east Fife on Tuesday.

“A forensic examination is taking place.”

Police refused to confirm whether the body was connected to the search for Susan Reid.
